About Us

Performing in the Brunswick area for over 30 years

The Highlight Acting Troupe is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization which supports and promotes interest in the fine and performing arts through: performance, education and awareness. The Highlight Acting Troupe has been performing in the Brunswick area for over 30 years.  It was organized in 1984 as the Tamarac Players.  Ron LeVan and Bob Claus, the high school music teacher at Tamarac High School, came up with the idea of creating a children’s summer theater workshop.  With the backing of the PTA, a group of interested adults formed the theater group.   As the Tamarac Players they performed such shows as Oliver, Babes in Toyland, Carousel, Wanna Play and the forever favorite Brigadoon.  In 1989 the group decided they would like to do adult performances during the year instead of just the summer.  They changed their name to the Highlight Acting Troupe (HAT) and did performances at the Brunswick Elks as dinner theater.  In 1990 they moved to the Raymertown Lutheran Church and stayed there until 1996 when they moved to the former Memorial Methodist Church.  In 2002 they moved back to the Raymertown Lutheran Church and in 2009 moved to the Brunswick Grange which is their current home. In 2009 HAT expanded our programming to include one-act shows for various organizations in the community as fund raisers.
